About Your Doula
Kira was raised in the back woods of Southern Vermont. It could be said that her passion for childbirth began at just four-years-old, when her parents informed her they’d be welcoming a new sibling into the family. Fascinated by the news, she didn’t hold back from asking any and all questions about “where babies come from.” It was clear to her parents she wanted to be involved, not just with the baby, but with the birth. She even shocked her Nursery School teachers by creating a series of drawings which depicted her mother first pregnant, and then in labor.
Flash forward to 2021, Kira was a senior at the University of Vermont and presented with the opportunity to work as a volunteer doula for the school’s medical center. As it was the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, she and her peers were to be the only volunteer staff allowed in the hospital, and for some birthing people, the only support they would have during labor. This experience reignited her long held passion for childbirth, and it was then that she knew her calling was in the birth space.
Today, Kira is a candidate for Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator Certification through the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA). She has trained with Global Birth Education Consulting (GBEC), and has supported many families through their birth experiences at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Kira has a Bachelor’s of Science in Food Systems with concentration in Community and International Development. She is also certified in Integrative Healthcare, and is a Wilderness First Responder.
